Heavy Plant Technician
Rathcoole, Co. Dublin

The Company

Our client is one of the world’s largest Caterpillar suppliers of construction, earth moving and power systems equipment. They are currently looking for a Heavy Plant Technician to join their workshop in Rathcoole.

The Role

As a Heavy Plant Technician, you’ll carry out a range of reconditioning and maintenance work on refurbished Caterpillar products to ensure they perform to our client’s high standards.

Reporting to the Customer Service Controller, you’ll perform in-depth inspections of machines, carry out standard diagnostic tests on components and produce lists of parts and materials needed to perform machine preparation work.

You will also:

- Carry out overhaul, repair or refurbishment work on machines to the agreed work plan
- Remove and dispatch components for specialist attention
- Reinstall or replace parts
- Inspect and test completed machines to ensure they are operating to the expected performance levels

About You

To be considered as a Heavy Plant Technician, you will need:

- To be a qualified mechanical engineer with at least three years’ post-qualified experience
- Practical experience of operating construction equipment in confined spaces and carrying out mechanical fitting work on large-scale machines
- Practical knowledge of tooling and specialised equipment to conduct repairs on difficult and heavy machinery
