Job Description

 Internal Audit Co-ordinator
Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin (with up to 40% travel to Antakya in Turkey)

Currently operating in 13 countries, GOAL is a global humanitarian aid charity that has helped tens of millions of people over the last 40 years. They are now looking for an Internal Audit Co-ordinator to join their team in Dun Laoghaire.

Since 2013, GOAL has been carrying out vital work in the Middle East, including Syria and Turkey, as well as Iraq in 2015. Currently, they are responding to the needs of conflict-affected communities in Syria, as well as alleviating the protection and livelihoods concerns of communities in Ankara and southern Turkey.

In Iraq, GOAL supports livelihood and economic development through a market systems approach, including vocational and business training, small grants, technical support and targeted interventions.

In this key role, you will support the success of GOAL’s important work in the Middle East by ensuring that their operations are delivered to the highest standards.

As an Internal Audit Co-ordinator, you will audit GOAL’s programmes and operations in the Middle East, ensuring compliance with GOAL’s policies, in-country operating procedures and donor rules/regulations.

Your duties will involve:

- Overseeing Internal Audit Officers based in Syria and an Internal Audit Manager based in Antakya
- Acting as a key member of the GOAL Risk Committee
- Assessing the adequacy of internal controls and identifying improvements
- Carrying out reporting
- Travelling to GOAL’s site in Antakya

To be considered, you will need:

- At least three years’ experience in a medium to large internal audit function
- At a minimum, at least three years’ finance experience
- A high level of IT literacy, including MS Word and Excel
- The willingness to gain a certification with the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors
- A degree level qualification

Detail-oriented and organised, as an Internal Audit Co-ordinator, you will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You’ll also be able to adapt to changing priorities, effectively assess risk and make plans accordingly.

Ideally, you’ll be a qualified accountant, but this isn’t essential. Experience of compiling and conducting training workshops would also be beneficial, as would previous NGO experience. Fluency in Arabic or Turkish, in addition to English, would also be advantageous.
