Job Description

 

The Data Engineer will help design, implement and support full end to end BI and Data solutions working closely with stakeholders within IT and in the business functions and will be part of a dynamic team that will be responsible for a variety of Big Data solutions including Data Sourcing and Integration, Data Modelling and Datamarts on Attunity, Hadoop and Azure platforms.

• The Data Engineer will help design, implement and support full end to end BI and Data solutions working closely with stakeholders within IT and in the business functions and will be part of a dynamic team that will be responsible for a variety of Big Data solutions including Data Sourcing and Integration, Data Modelling and Datamarts on Attunity, Hadoop and Azure platforms.

• Design and Implement Data flows and Datamarts on a Hadoop platform

• Troubleshooting issues with existing Data flows and Datamarts on the Hadoop platform

• Designing, Creating and Maintaining Data Integration Tasks on an Attunity Replicate Server

• Automation of Tasks on Hadoop platform and Attunity Replicate Server

• Maintaining Powershell Automation scripts on Attunity Replicate Server

• Troubleshooting and Supporting Business Users working with existing solutions using Hive and Impala on the Hadoop platform.

• Champion change on behalf of the BI & Data Solutions team and for the IT Solutions team in general

• Specify components of solutions to support the delivery of user requirements right first time.

• Ensure the Applications are designed to be effectively managed

• Liaise with third-party or in-house service providers to monitor progress and highlight any issues for action.

• Plan and manage systems tests to ensure that solutions work correctly and meet the specification.

• Identify and drive improvements to the current processes and new development work.

• Investigate and resolve user problems channeled via Helpdesk or equivalent in order to minimize disruption to Business activity.

• Responsible for creating and maintaining documentation - Document changes to systems and produce documentation for new solutions.

Maintain functional peer relationships and participate in continuous process improvement activities and support quality initiatives
