Job Description

 

JOB OVERVIEW

  • Responsible for on site development of new material grades and transfers of new products from innovation to production.
  • With emphasis on development of novel materials you will prepare raw materials, reaction volume assemblies and develop high-pressure high-temperature sintering parameters for the manufacture of superabrasive materials.
  • Degree of autonomy in the role.
  • Together with the development team you will be expected to plan work so that project and operational plans can be fulfilled.
  • You will actively cross train the operations team so that the production pipeline can support the needs of different projects.
  • Regular travel to the global innovation centre in the UK will be required.

DUTIES AND TASKS

  • Responsible for the development and transfer/scale-up of new material grades and processes from innovation to production
  • Manage regular communication between various stakeholders including innovation and production teams
  • Develop solutions and carry out daily problem solving for materials and process development.
  • Write process, quality and training documentation
  • Design and conduct powder-processing trials and synthesis parameter development
  • Conduct materials characterisation and quality checks and use data to propose material and process improvements
  • Document and communicate learnings

CRITERIA SKILLS

  • Education in materials science/chemical/engineering or similar, to at least degree level.
  • Previous industrial manufacturing or research experience with powder processing, material recipe development and/or sintering would be a distinct advantage.
  • Experience in materials characterisation techniques such as scanning electron microscopy and/or mechanical properties would be beneficial to the role
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to communicate observations, challenges and solutions with relevant stakeholders
  • Ability to plan activities and work in a cross-functional team to deliver against project time scales
  • Decision making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong Project Management skills
Job Requirements
