PayPal to Create 100 New Data Science Roles in Dublin with Launch of AI and Fraud Centre
Payments giant PayPal has announced the creation of 100 new data science jobs at its Dublin office as part of a major expansion tied to a newly established AI and fraud data science centre.
The move marks another step in PayPal’s transformation of its Dublin site from a traditional customer service hub into a centre for technological innovation.
The new positions will cover a wide range of areas including artificial intelligence engineering, data science, software development, risk modelling, and cybersecurity. These roles will support key business areas such as loss prevention and enhancing customer experiences.
“As we shape the future of digital payments, the talent and innovation coming out of Ireland will be vital,” said Aaron J. Webster, Global Chief Risk Officer at PayPal. “This expansion reflects our confidence in the local ecosystem and our goal of building a data-driven, AI-powered future where trust and safety are embedded in every transaction.”
The jobs boost is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.
Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment Peter Burke welcomed the announcement, stating: “The creation of 100 highly skilled roles in cutting-edge fields like AI and data science reinforces Ireland’s standing as a global hub for innovation. I commend PayPal for its continued partnership with IDA Ireland.”
Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, added: “This announcement is a strong vote of confidence in Ireland as a location for high-value investment.”
The news comes a year after PayPal cut 290 jobs in Ireland, including 62 redundancies and the closure of its Dundalk office in March 2023. Remaining Dundalk staff were transitioned to remote working.
