Workplace Use of AI Doubles in a Year – Ibec Study
A new study from business group Ibec has revealed a dramatic increase in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace.
In July 2025, 40% of employees reported using AI tools in their work, compared to just 19% in August 2024. The number of workers using AI in specific roles also rose significantly — from 12% to 33% over the same period.
The survey, based on responses from 800 employees, highlights strong support for AI in the workplace:
-
80% said AI is boosting productivity,
-
75% said it frees them to focus on other aspects of their job,
-
81% believe they could use AI more effectively with additional training.
Despite this, training remains a challenge. Over a quarter (27%) said they had not received any formal training in AI, while 83% said they need more.
The findings are part of Ibec’s "Work Just Got Smarter" campaign, launched alongside new guidance to help businesses adopt AI across different functions.
