Job Description
Liaise with senior management to determine the range of goods and services offered to business clients, and contribute to the development of business development strategies and the setting of sales targets; Identify, approach and secure new business clients, including local businesses, offices, sites, schools, clubs and event organisers, for catering, bulk and corporate supply; Discuss business clients’ requirements, carry out client surveys, and analyse client reactions to products, packaging, pricing and service in order to tailor offerings; Prepare proposals, quotations and account-level promotional offers for business clients, and negotiate client pricing, volumes and terms; Handle and grow a portfolio of business customer accounts, managing renewals, cross-selling and client retention; Establish and manage commercial partnerships with suppliers, distributors and delivery platforms to support business account and channel growth; Source products and negotiate supplier pricing, terms, rebates and promotional funding for business client ranges, ensuring offers are commercially viable and margins are protected; Evaluate supplier performance on price, reliability and quality for business account supply, and recommend improvements to senior management; Contribute business client demand and supplier insight to the organisation’s wider purchasing and sourcing decisions, and support the transition of these activities to a dedicated procurement function as the business grows; Work with the operations team to ensure business account orders are stocked, priced and fulfilled on time, and that systems support new sales channels; Draw on the analytics team’s market and sales insights to prioritise business opportunities, and provide client and market feedback to inform commercial strategy; Compile and analyse account sales figures and pipeline performance against targets, sharing results with the analytics team for inclusion in store performance reporting; Produce reports and recommendations on business development, account sales and supplier strategy for senior management; Keep up to date with products, suppliers, competitors and developments in the business customer market; Recruit and train junior sales staff supporting business development and account activities.

Job Requirements

Requirements: Third-level degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting & Finance or a related discipline. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in sales, business development or account management, including leadership of a sales team. Proven record of achieving sales targets and delivering revenue growth. Experience developing and managing relationships with business clients, suppliers and distributors. Experience in purchasing, product sourcing or supplier negotiation. Strong negotiation, proposal preparation and presentation skills. Commercial numeracy, including pricing, margins, cost analysis and sales forecasting. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel) and CRM/POS systems. • Excellent communication skills.
