Role Overview

SMURFS TECH LIMITED seeks a Legal & Compliance Specialist fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English to support cross-border operations with suppliers in China. This role ensures the company’s international transactions and supplier relationships comply with Chinese, Irish, and EU legal and regulatory frameworks. The ideal candidate combines expertise in contract law, compliance, risk management, and financial oversight, providing actionable guidance to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate supply agreements, framework contracts, and service-level agreements. Identify risks, ensure compliance, and safeguard company interests.

Regulatory Compliance: Monitor international trade regulations, import/export controls, and financial compliance requirements relevant to operations with Chinese suppliers.

Risk Management & Advisory: Provide legal and compliance advice to senior management, highlight risks, and recommend corrective actions.

Supplier Relationship Management: Serve as the primary legal and compliance liaison with Chinese suppliers, manage negotiations, resolve disputes, and ensure contractual and regulatory adherence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with finance, procurement, logistics, and operations teams to ensure contractual and financial processes align with business activities.

Governance & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of contracts, compliance assessments, and regulatory filings to ensure audit readiness and governance standards.


Job Requirements
Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Law, Accounting, or Business Administration; advanced legal or compliance qualifications preferred.

Licensed to practice law in China with 10+ years of legal and compliance experience.

ACCA Advanced Diploma in Accounting and Business and EXIN Data Protection Officer (DPO) Certification.

Native or near-native Mandarin Chinese, C1-level English proficiency.

Strong knowledge of Chinese commercial practices, EU/Irish regulations, international trade law, and GDPR compliance.

Proven experience in contract review, compliance advisory, and risk management in cross-border or multinational operations.

Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills; able to manage multiple regulatory projects under tight deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, legal research, and compliance software.
