Salary: €238’221 - €286’151 per annum
The Consultant will play a key role in:
Clinical leadership within the Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) service
Delivering care across Emergency Departments, Emergency Care Units, and Urgent Care Centres within CHI
Participating in consultant rotas, including evening, weekend, and on-call commitments
Supporting service development, quality improvement, and clinical governance
Providing expert assessment, stabilisation, and management of the full spectrum of paediatric emergencies
Contributing to short-stay observation pathways to reduce admissions and improve patient flow
Participating in Major Trauma services and national paediatric emergency care delivery
Leading and mentoring NCHDs, ANPs, and multidisciplinary colleagues
Involvement in teaching, audit, research, and ongoing service transformation

Eligibility:
Suitable applicants may hold:
UK CCT in Paediatrics with 2+ years’ experience in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
EU Specialist qualification recognised under EU Directive
American Board certification in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
Canadian Fellowship
Australian or New Zealand Fellowship
Additionally:
Must be eligible for Specialist Registration with the Irish Medical Council
3 years postgraduate experience in paediatric/emergency specialties, including at least 2 years in Paediatric Emergency Medicine
