About the GP service
The municipality has 15 doctors spread across several well-run medical clinics. GPs can work either as private practitioners or salaried employees, depending on the agreement. The clinics are modern and well-equipped, with stable access to skilled nurses, biomedical laboratory scientists and medical secretaries.
GPs participate in on-call duty at an intermunicipal emergency clinic located at a nearby hospital. The clinic is staffed by nurses 24/7, with a doctor on call from 3 PM to 8 AM on weekdays and 24-hour shifts on weekends and public holidays.
Professional requirements
- Medical license and specialist approval from an EU country.
- Specialist in family medicine, preferably with minimum two years of experience.
- Good communication skills in English, and motivated to learn Norwegian.
- Experience in pediatric medicine and infant check-ups.
- Experience in gynecological examinations in an office setting.
- Skilled in minor surgical procedures.
- Ability to handle a broad variety of patients and diagnoses independently.
- Class B driver’s license.
- A clean criminal record must be documented through a police certificate in accordance with the Health Personnel Act.
