A municipality in Akershus, just outside Oslo, is now recruiting a dedicated physician to work as a full-time nursing home doctor.

This is a permanent position offering both clinical variety and the opportunity to contribute directly to elderly care. The municipality prioritises integrated healthcare and close cooperation between nursing homes, GPs and other local health services.

Main responsibilities

  • Medical responsibility for patients at the municipal nursing home
  • Collaboration with GPs, home care services and other healthcare providers
  • Participation in medical quality improvement and service development
  • Guidance of healthcare staff when needed
  • Option to join the local out-of-hours emergency service

Requirements

  • Medical license and specialist approval from an EU country
  • Specialist doctor within family medicine, preferably with minimum two years of experience
  • Experience from general practice or elderly care is desirable
  • Good communication skills in English and willingness to complete Norwegian language training
